Taiwan December export value historically second highest monthly level, says MOF

Taiwan recorded a total export value of US$40.72 billion for December 2021, the historically second-highest monthly level, exceeded only by the US$ 41.58 billion recorded in the preceding month; this was an increase of 23.4% on year. The corresponding total import value of US$34.95 billion slipped 2.5% on month but grew 28.1% on year, according to the Ministry of Finance (MOF).

Among different categories of Taiwan-made products, electronic components had the largest export value of US$16.264 billion in December, increasing 2.1% on month and 27.5% on year. In particular, ICs took up 91.0% of the export value.

The total export value of US$122.42 billion for the fourth quarter of 2021 and that of US$446.45 billion for 2021 rose 26.0% and 29.4% respectively on year. The total import value of US$104.82 billion for the fourth quarter and that of US$381.17 billion for 2021 grew 32.9% and 33.2% respectively on year.
