India needs to strengthen contract enforcement to attract more foreign investment

According to Reuters, India is trying to convince large foreign firms such as Tesla, Samsung, and LG Energy to invest in manufacturing in India as the country looks to adopt more electric vehicles. However, a government official was cited by Reuters as saying that large foreign firms are still hesitant because of the lack of local partners and India's weak contract enforcement.

India plans to subsidize local IC design

According to Economic Times, the India government is devising a new design-linked incentive scheme for semiconductors to attract local and foreign investment. So far, major chipmakers such as Qualcomm, Intel, Mediatek all have R&D centers in India.

Indian EV makers are running low on battery inventory

According to Economic Times, Indian electric vehicle makers are having a hard time accessing more lithium batteries as battery supply tightens and prices increase. While fast-growing demand for lithium batteries has led to tight supply, manufacturers prefer supplying to markets with larger demand such as the US and Europe.

Edtech unicorn Vedantu projects slower but robust revenue growth for coming years

According to Nikkei Asia, India's online education startup Vedantu projects over 100% annual growth in revenue for the next two and a half years even as schools reopen. CEO Vamsi Krishna was cited as saying that parents are now aware of the benefits of online education. The edtech just became a unicorn in September after receiving US$100 million in funding.

Honda two-wheeler branch is set to test and launch first model in India

According to Electronics B2B, managing director and CEO of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) were cited as saying that the Japan-based carmaker plans to launch its first electric model in India during the next financial year following a test run scheduled after Diwali.
