Chip orders for servers, particularly high-speed transmission chip orders, will be ramping up substantially in the third quarter of 2021, according to industry sources.
Taiwan-based IC designers including ASMedia Technology, Parade Technologies, Realtek Semiconductor, ITE Tech, Genesys Logic, Aspeed Technology, Nuvoton, VIA Labs, Weltrend, Leadtrend, Amazing Microelectronic and ASIX Electronics are all optimistic about their operations in the second half and expect sales to continue rising in 2022.
With 5G applications growing, transmission technologies for end devices are also being upgraded. Following the recent availability of Wi-Fi 6 applications, many companies have already started the development of the next-generation Wi-Fi 6E devices, while Ethernet has also been upgraded to 2.5G specification to pair with 5G's transmission speed.
USB chip designers have also started pushing development of USB 4.0 and PCIe4 to enhance overall transmission efficiency of PCs and consumer electronics.
