Most Taiwan-based analog IC design houses are likely to see double-digit growths for their revenues and profits in 2021, judging from their clear order visibility, according to industry sources.
Related suppliers, including Global Mixed-mode Technology (GMT), Leadtrend Technology, Anpec Electronics, Advanced Analog Technology, Macroblock, and Champion Microelectronic, have seen their book-to-bill ratios reach 1.5 or even 2.0, said the sources.
Some international IC players' decisions to withdraw from the desktop- and notebook-related analog IC market and first-tier handset vendors to exclude chargers from their packages have helped boost demand for fast-charging ICs, indicated the sources.
Some industry sources have estimated that the output value of fast-charging chips in the device-end market is likely to expand exponentially in 2021 from the previous US$400-500 million.
However, the strength of the revenue and earnings growths at respective IC vendors would depend on how strong the 8-inch capacity support they can secure from local foundries, who have been operating their fabs almost at full capacities, commented the sources.
